We started Love Shack Press in 2017 after several years of honing our craft at various print making facilities in and around St. Louis. Julianne worked as the head of printmaking at Resources for Human Development's Fine Line Studios, an art program for adults with developmental disabilities, and Brennan worked as a printmaker at Evil Prints and Art Farm. We started with a small 4 color single station screen printing press we acquired from local artist and musician duo Evan Sult and Paige Brubeck, better known as Sleepy Kitty.
We had a very small, DIY set-up in the beginning, building much of the equipment ourselves and converting our standing shower into a makeshift screen cleaning booth. Working primarily with local artists and small businesses in the Cherokee Street community, we took on as many jobs as possible in order to buy better equipment that would make it easier to print shirts, posters, art pieces and whatever else came our way. After a year and half, we managed to save enough to upgrade to a six color, six station press, greatly increasing the complexity and quantity of work we could make. It was a big investment for us, but a worthwhile one, as we were sure that we would be doing this for long time.
Today we are busier than ever, thanks to the relationships we have formed over the years with numerous local businesses, artists and musicians in the St. Louis area. We have expanded the services we offer to include bespoke design and mural work, stickers, hats, fashion design and creative consultation. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to help others grow their creative and professional practices in tandem with our own. It's been a pleasure and a privilege to work with and expand the reach of St. Louis' diverse and vibrant creative and small business community.
